Theatre management has been a passion of mine for several years. Throughout my educational and professional careers, I have served as front of house manager, box office manager, and publicity director for several productions and theatre companies. I consider the front of house (FOH) to be one of the most important steps for a patron during their theatrical experience. The FOH and box office provide an opportunity for the theatre staff to cultivate a relationship with patrons to help ensure retention and customer satisfaction. The FOH should strive to entice and introduce all patrons to not just the upcoming performance but also the facility that is hosting the production. Professional etiquette, the ability to adapt, and a keen sense of customer service (cultivated over my numerous years as a customer service representative in retail)  are just a few of the skills that a great FOH staff member should possess.
